There are many things to do while home for Thanksgiving break besides just eat. Having a couple of days escape from work and all your responsibilities can be a great time. This time is well-known for being a time to re-connect with family and friends, and be thankful for all that you have.
Look below for a list of 9 things to do while home for Thanksgiving break:
Spend Time With Family
What better time in the year is there to spend time with all of your family. Most people will get together with their family for a big Thanksgiving dinner. Make sure to be thankful for all that you have together.
Catch Up With Old Friends
Meet up with some friends that you haven’t had the chance to see in a while. Go out for some drinks and reminisce about all the shenanigans you guys used to do together.
Go to The Movies
Catch a movie with your friends or family! Check out the new movie Fantastic Beasts by your very own J.K. Rowling.
Go Shopping On Black Friday
Black Friday shopping may be a little hectic, but it’s definitely worth it! Make a list of items you’ll need and check online where you can find the best deals – you may even be able to just buy them online. You can buy some sweaters or coats that you’ll need for the winter, or even buy some Christmas gifts.
Nap – After a Food Coma
What better time to be lazy than after stuffing your face with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie.
Watch the Parade
Everyone knows about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. If you aren’t in the city, and want to avoid the crazy crowds then what better time to sit at home and watch it on the couch. Relax, make some tea or hot chocolate and spend your entire morning admiring all the crazy, giant balloons and entertainment. The parade starts at 9:00 AM, and if you happen to be in the city, the parade runs from Central Park all the way to right around Penn Station.
Catch Up On You’re Favorite Shows
What better time to be lazy, sit back, and binge watch all the shows you wanted to see on Netflix. It’s also that time of the year where all your favorite movies are shown on T.V. Go ahead and watch some Home Alone for old times sake.
Watch Thanksgiving Day Football
For all you football fans out there, what better time to watch some games. You’ll have an abundance of food available, and friends and family to watch with. Here’s the game schedule for Thanksgiving Day:
- Vikings v Lions @ 12:30 PM
- Redskins v Cowboys @ 4:30 PM
- Steelers v Colts @ 8:30 PM
Go Apple/Pumpkin Picking
This is the last chance to go pumpkin or apple picking before it gets too cold. If you’re a chick, it’s a perfect time for that photo op. Trees will be full of colorful leaves and the floor will be covered with them as well. You can even grab some apple cider donuts.
As you can see there are many things to do while home for Thanksgiving break. Spend it as you choose, but whatever way you pick, it’ll definitely be a great weekend. And most of all, don’t forget the leftovers you’ll have for days after Thanksgiving.
Happy almost Turkey Day everyone!
